Angelic/Devilish

6 December 2007

The little angel on my right shoulder and the little devil on my left shoulder are literally at each other. Bickering. And the poor angel is actually on a losing streak. I’m loving what the little devil is whispering into my ears. Feeding me ideas. Fueling the cheeky streak in me.

Maybe it’s time to break free. Be selfish. Be naughty.

For so long I’ve always taken into considerations of all sort of factors in making decision, normally involving what’s best for everyone. Not that I always make the right decision, just they normally put everyone’s best interest into the equation first before myself. Especially for those whom I care about.

Ah J wouldn’t even know what hit him in the next couple of months, hehehe…

(Sorry I know I’m a bit cryptic but as devilish as I go, I don’t think I could confess everything here, because it’s all very bold, including my telephone conversation with him last weekend. I like being bold and sassy.)

Party aftermath

5 December 2007

A Christmas party was organised by a committee of student body on behalf of the department last evening, and it went relatively pretty well although I could also be very critical and point out multiple flaws with regard to the event. Afterall, I was in the committee a couple of years ago and we were trying our best to ensure everything ran smoothly.

First comment that I heard was from the chair of the committee from last year. She told me the new crowd approached her literally two days before the event to asked how much food and drinks should they order. OMG! For some reason they have also misplaced various documentations so the past chair literally had to dig up through her stuff to find the details to help them. And guess what, not a word of thank you either.

As the evening went, in general, everyone had fun. But the aftermath? Disaster. The committee left the venue in a complete mess! I mean, alright, they wanted to have some fun too so perhaps they were planning to clean it up first thing the next day. Noooooo. They didn’t even turn up to the department until after noon. One even claimed they didn’t realise they were supposed to clean it (thinking that the cleaners would do that).

Hello? Cleaners are there to help on general cleaning, not minding after a party mess. Had they even chose to clear the place the night before, there would have been plenty of people who could help and it would have been done a lot quicker.

The disgrace was, the young PIs of the committee members were the one cleaning up. That’s like, I don’t know, my boss cleaning up after my party two years ago? Why would young people nowadays be less and less inclined to take responsibilities and try to shove it to someone else?

Personal Task List

4 December 2007

For a change, I’m jotting my personal task list here instead of work task list. Work task list for now is pretty straight forward - get project BHM to completion. Personal one however, is piling up and I’ll need to get a bit more organised about them.

  • Prepare Christmas shopping list
  • Buy air ticket for going home in February
  • Get an electric toothbrush
  • Book table for lunch with DL in three weeks
  • Organise a dinner for my friends to come over
  • Pack books and give them away
  • Post Christmas cards before it’s too late
  • Send away signed contract for broadband service
  • Start coding for lab’s new website

One at a time, slowly and surely I will get there. But I’m hoping to get all these done within the week if I could. Would be great to decluter and get organised before the Christmas break. I couldn’t affort more time waste in the new year, as the thesis dateline looms.

Ps: my friend TG just told me I am such a control freak :P
