Stress management
8 October 2007
I have been given advices aplenty, and some of them relates to stress management. I don’t always follow them to a tee, but I do try to practice them as much as possible. I try to live as stress free as possible, even when things are running hectic and crazy on my end.
Something like, my lazy day from the weekend. I incorporated several steps in that one day alone, lol.
- Sleep well : I try to get my regular 7-8 hours daily
- Eat well : no meal skipping, and try not to eat on the run
- Think positive : I need to believe in what I do
- Be organised : I feel better when I am in control
- Stretches : it’s really a good tension reliever
- Exercise : get physical and let the steam off
- Take breaks : learn not to feel guilty about breaks
- Set priorities : use task list and work it one at a time
- Comfort treats : chocolate, hot bath, you get the idea
- Rewards : always a good motivation to work hard
- Social life : do go out with friends and socialise
- Hobbies : dance, blog, read (leisurely), etc
These are the twelve steps that I work with to help managing my stress level, in no particular order. I suppose, at the end of the day, what matters most is not to let work and stress take over my life. From time to time, stress is inevitable, but I can try to keep it low whenever I could.
If you have any other tips, do let me know!
don’t worry dearie, you’re doing great!!
i need help with the getting organized part!
Gauging from last month, I memang suck big time at stress management. I’ll be doomed if I don’t learn to counter-balance it before moving into a front-line operational job.
I guess having a healthy personal life outside work helps tremendously. But friends and family members are my default balls to drop when I juggle too many things. Gotta get better at multi-tasking.
Ath, well, methinks that’s part of my control freak nature..
San, always remember, work hard, play hard. I don’t multi task a lot, and instead usually try to concentrate on one at a time. At least for work related items. Don’t want to make silly mistakes by switching around too much.
